Additional Photos from our luncheon honoring Fred Willard

Music promotions and merchandising icon Steve Resnik, TV talk show hostess and panelist Sarah Purcell and previous Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award recipient "Shotgun" Tom Kelly joined many Fred Willard friends to congratulate him on receiving the latest award. Sarah had a previous engagement so spoke before lunch was served; consequently, she was not present for the dais group photograph.

Past President Chuck Southcott greeted Arleta Owens, widow of PPB's long-time member Gary Owens, who passed away in February. Chuck had a special relationship with Gary as the two worked together for decades at radio stations and in syndicated radio music programming. Mrs. Owens was recognized during the luncheon by President Chuck Street and received a warm welcome from attendees.

Two previous Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award recipients were on the dais June 19 to salute Fred Willard. Prolific film reviewer and author Leonard Maltin and singer, TV game show host and actor Peter Marshall recalled their celebrity luncheons before the one for Fred. Leonard also had to leave for another engagement, so spoke prior to lunch and thus is not in the dais picture on our Luncheons page.

The Fred Willard celebrity luncheon brought some new faces to Sportsmen's Lodge on June 19th. Mark Elliott (left) is the primary voice-over artist for Walt Disney Entertainment since 1983. He provides voice overs for trailers, logos, feature presentations and commercials. PPB Member Ron Shapiro (right) greeted him and Jeffrey Leonard in the Empire Ballroom following the luncheon.

PPB's Chairman of the Board is Jeanne DeVivier Brown, whose "magic" Rolodex has produced star-studded celebrity luncheon honorees for decades. She was greeted by PPB's last honoree, "Shotgun" Tom Kelly, and PPB member J. Michael Goetz, an actor, announcer and producer.

Alan will assume his new duties for three years beginning August 1.

The planning for and execution of PPB's five annual celebrity luncheons require hundreds of member volunteer hours. Working behind the scenes is the Board of Directors and many others to ensure all members have a memorable luncheon experience. Two of those are Past President John Harlan (a charter member) and Vice President Bianca Pino, who also edits and publishes our informative Newsletter five times each season. (Don Graham photo) |
When all the stories about our honorees have been told and the luncheon attendees have recovered from laughing so hard, it comes time for our president to present the prestigious Art Gilmore Career Achievement Award. Obviously pleased to receive it, Fred Willard told a few humorous stories of his own, then graciously thanked PPB for the honor and the dais guests for making his celebration so special. (Don Graham photo) The next luncheon is on September 25th. Click on "Calendar" in the left column of the Website to see the dates of all the celebrity luncheons scheduled for next season. |
