Additional Photos from our luncheon honoring Dick Cavett

Honoree Dick Cavett rests his arm on the shoulder of PPB Assistant Treasurer Michael Brockman, with Dick's wife Martha, PPB President Chuck Street and PPB Board Member Bill Moran socializing before the luncheon. (David Keeler photo)

Radio personality Rick Dees was on hand at the November 7 PPB Celebrity Luncheon for famous TV writer and host Dick Cavett. Pictured on the left is new PPB Board member and Ralph Edwards table host Mary Beth Garber. Peeking in at the right is PPB's oldest member, 102-year-old Connie Sawyer! (Don King photo)

PPB member John Clark met up with another PPB member, TV host and singer Peter Marshall before the luncheon honoring Dick Cavett on November 7. More than 300 Cavett fans turned out for the event at Sportsmen's Lodge. (Don King photo)

What? Laurel and Hardy showed up to salute PPB's honoree, Dick Cavett? No, it was just long-time PPB members Chuck McCann and Jim MacGeorge, who amused LA TV audiences for years with their famous Laurel and Hardy AMCO windshield wiper commercials. (David Keeler photo)

At each PPB Celebrity Luncheon, Ralph Edwards Productions sponsors a table for aspiring broadcasting students from area colleges and universities. Honoree Dick Cavett met with students from Pasadena City College and Fullerton College at the November 7 luncheon. In spite of many pitfalls ahead, Dick declared that all of them "are going to make it." (David Keeler photo)

LA morning drive KOST radio personality and PPB Board member Mark Wallengren takes advantage of his opportunity to capture a selfie with Dick Cavett before PPB's celebrity luncheon for Cavett. One would guess that the product of this endeavor will end up on the KOST Website. (David Keeler photo)

On short notice when Larry King developed a scheduling conflict, PPB President Chuck Street led a conversation with Dick Cavett that delighted the more than 300 luncheon guests. Answering Chuck's well-researched questions, Cavett told of his famous Watergate scandal reporting, his relationships with Jack Paar and Johnny Carson, how he persuaded Katharine Hepburn to be interviewed by him, and his many humorous dealings with a plethora of famous people. He even revealed what Jack Benny told him that he would like to say to people who asked him stupid questions. It was a most entertaining program. (Don King photo)

Dick Cavett autographed his book for President Street, and then stayed after the luncheon to autograph copies for attendees who purchased them in the lobby. Cavett pointed out that many of his writings and TV interviews, including his Watergate coverage, are now available on You Tube. (David Keeler photo)
